Detailed Description - Back to TopImportant Note:- These phones has been factory reconditioned by Ericsson itself and they are Like New!
Technically, the T28w is a flip phone, but it's not your standard. To access the dial pad, you press a button; the flip cover pops open. Close the cover to end your call. If you're accustomed to a regular flip phone (a StarTAC, for example), you may initially find the mechanism a tad irritating, but you'll get used to it. The same is true of the keys on the dial pad, which some may find too small. Ericsson is using the T28w to showcase several new accessories, most of which clip onto the bottom of the phone. These include an FM radio, an MP3 player, and a wireless Bluetooth headset. And although we weren't able to test any of these gadgets during our review, Ericsson assured us that they would be available by September 2000.
Ample Features From a features standpoint, the T28w biggest selling point is its ability to function in more than 120 countries. But that's not all. The T28w also includes voice-activated dialing (say the person's name and the phone dials his or her number); vibrating call alert; a 250-name phone book; a world clock with an alarm, a calculator, and a stopwatch; alternate-line and conference-call capabilities; advanced call-handling features; and a nifty battery-level indicator that tells you exactly how much talk and standby time is left. The phone comes with a small charger that works around the world and powers up the included slim lithium-polymer battery in less than an hour. (We actually got a full charge in about 45 minutes.)
The T28w's interface isn't the best we've seen, although it's far from the worst. To access feature menus, you scroll through a set of icons displayed horizontally across the tiny three-line LCD. However, we appreciated the ability to create a set of personalized shortcuts that allowed us to quickly access our favorite features.
As noted, the only thing Ericsson left out was a minibrowser. While we can't fault the designers for that, the inclusion of one would have made this model even more desirable.
