Detailed Description - Back to TopLooking very much like a PDA phone with built-in colour touch-screen (pen-based), digital camera, and Bluetooth connectivity, the P800 is a glimpse of “things to come” from the new Sony-Ericsson alliance. This tri-band phone (GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz) will have access to around 160 networks across five continents with the capability to access the Internet through available GPRS connections.
Running on the latest version of the open operating system for mobile devices, Symbian OS v7.0, the P800 (and its variants) provides the user with PDA-like applications - including calendar, e-mail, address book, to-do lists, viewers (for MS Office & Acrobat documents), and also including an integrated browser that can access web material in HTML and xHTML format, i-Mode and WAP pages. Applications based on Java or C++ downloaded to the phone can also be run on the phone’s OS. Digital pictures taken by the P800 can be either saved and sent to another person as an MMS message or used as a picture to represent a particular phone book entry. And all these features can be synchronised with your own PC - being compatible with the most common office applications.
Versions based on Chinese-speaking markets with the ability to handle Chinese character text input (P802 / P800c) will also be available around the same time.
